DIY Powerwall

What is a Powerwall?

A powerwall is a big battery case that sometimes includes a charge controller and / or inverter.  You can build your own "powerwall" for a fraction of the cost of what's available in the marketplace.  Of course some products are better than others, but you can do better with top quality components.

We are going to compare a popular product that retails around $5000.00.  This unit is advertised to produce  9200 WH (9.2KWH) @ 48V and a 10 year battery warrantee. It does not have a charge controller or inverter.

OK!  Let's do the math.

We found a 400 pound capacity  rolling rack for online average                                                   200.00

Eight (8) Lipo4 100AH Batteries-31LBS each- for online average DELIVERED                1920,00

Cables and connectors for online average                                                                                                  150.00

Total for all                                                                                                                                                         $2270.00

Total $avings                                                                                                                                                     $2725.00

Plenty of money left for charge controller and invertor, AND the batteries have a ten (10) year warranty.  We only devoted a few hours shopping and verifying suppliers.  Imagine what you could save if you Do It Yourself!

Another advantage is mounting the batteries on there sides and each has it's own LCD performance display.

Special NOTE.  Our DIY system produces more than the other.  9600WH (9.6KWH) at 48V and has the same 10 year battery warranty:)
